Hi! I’m Brooke, a 33-year-old living in Chicago with my husband and our little Yorkie, Flapjack. After being diagnosed with cancer in 2017, I became intensely focused on health and DNA preservation. Thankfully, I’m now in remission, but that experience sparked my passion for longevity.
Through my research, I discovered TruDiagnostic’s DunedinPACE aging tests, which I started using to measure the impact of my lifestyle changes and supplements—and the results have been impressive! I’m now ranked second in the Rejuvenation Olympics, with an average aging rate of 0.637 and a best rate of 0.56.
What Keeps Me Going
So, what drives me? It’s all about living a long, healthy life and staying as far away from illness as possible. The cancer diagnosis was a real wake-up call, and it pushed me to focus on my health in a big way. But it’s not just about me; it’s about being there, healthy and active, for my family and friends.
My husband is fully on board with our health-focused lifestyle, and even our little Yorkie, Flapjack, is part of the journey. Flapjack is currently enrolled in a rapamycin clinical trial for dogs. At 9 years old, he’s still as spritely as a puppy, full of energy and life.
My Longevity Routine:
Daily Meals
I’m all about avoiding toxins, so I drink only filtered water, steer clear of plastic as much as possible, and stick to non-processed, organic foods (preferably from a local farm!) Sure, I’ll have a glass of wine with friends now and then but what I eat is the foundation of my longevity routine. “Not eating” is important too—I try to do a 36-hour fast once a month to give my body a break and trigger some autophagy.
Supplements
I take a bunch of supplements, but some of my all-stars are Fatty15, spermidine, calcium alpha-ketoglutarate and senolytics like fisetin and quercetin. I like to retest my rate of aging after introducing new supplements so that really helps me dial them in!
Workout Routines
Exercise-wise, I’m all about balance. I do resistance training three times a week, sprinting or boxing once a week, and I make sure to get plenty of walking and daily movement in between. It’s a mix that keeps me feeling strong and energized.
Stress Relief/Mindfulness Practices
My day always starts with some meditation in front of my red light device. It’s my little moment of calm that helps me set a positive tone for whatever the day throws my way.
In the afternoons, I take it a step further by escaping into my hyperbaric chamber, which I absolutely LOVE. It’s a perfect way to pause, recharge, and unwind. Plus, the chamber offers so many health and anti-aging benefits—like improved oxygenation and cellular repair—and I’ve even noticed that my telomeres have lengthened since I started using it!
Sleep Routine
Sleep hygiene has always been a bit of a challenge for me, but I’m constantly working on it. I’ve learned that avoiding heavy meals before bed makes a big difference, so I try to keep my evening meals light and easy to digest. As the evening sets in, I switch to red lights after dark to minimize blue light exposure, which can disrupt my circadian rhythm. I also do my best to stick to a consistent bedtime, even when life gets hectic.
My Oura ring is my trusty sidekick in this endeavor, helping me track my sleep patterns and holding me accountable. It’s fascinating to see how small changes can impact my sleep quality, and having that data at my fingertips keeps me motivated to keep improving. Sleep is such a crucial part of the longevity equation, so I’m always looking for ways to enhance my routine and get the best rest possible.
Other Longevity Practices
One thing I’m particularly vigilant about is avoiding EMFs (electromagnetic fields). Living in Chicago, I’m surrounded by over 500 cell towers within a 5-mile radius and countless Wi-Fi routers, which can be a real concern for anyone focused on health and longevity. To protect myself, I’ve made a point of reducing my exposure as much as possible. This led me to co-found Aegis, an EMF protective brand for women, which is available on Amazon. It’s amazing how much more energized and clear-headed I am when I wear my Faraday hat!
Conclusion
It’s been incredible to see the benefits of these longevity practices across our entire household. We’re all committed to living our best, healthiest lives together, and it’s so rewarding to see the positive impacts these routines have on everyone—human and canine alike!
